TORBALL GOLD FOR BELGIUM AND AUSTRIA AT IBSA EUROPEAN TORBALL CUP
Results are in from the 21st IBSA European Torball Cup, held in Bolzano/Bozen in Northern Italy from November 11th-14th.
The cup brought together nine men’s teams from seven countries and eight women’s teams representing six nations for competition over two days.
The men’s competition was won by ViGE Waasland from Belgium, who defeated Austrian team BSS Tirol by two goals to one in a close-fought final. Bronze went to TCB Basel from Switzerland.
Johan de Rick from ViGe Waasland was the top scorer in the men’s tournament with 19 goals.
Austria took gold in the women’s event, with VBSC Vorarlberg winning another close final by two goals to one. The silver medal was won by Russian outfit Vologda, who had come top of the round-robin stage prior to the knock-out phase. Marseille (France) took third place.
VBSC Vorarlberg player Heidelinde Golob scored 25 goals at the tournament and came top of the goalscoring table in the women’s competition.
