BLIND JUDOKA FEATURES IN BRAZILIAN FILM

Antonio Tenorio da Silva receives gold medal
Antonio Tenório da Silva, a B1 judoka from Brazil, features in a major film just released.

The documentary film is called simply B1 and includes footage of Antonio’s successful bid to win Paralympic gold at the 2008 games in Beijing.

The film will be shown in cinemas across Brazil, and the producers hope to secure international distribution in Toronto at the upcoming HotDocs festival, North America’s largest documentary film festival.

It will be shown at the Cumberland 3 cinema at number 59 Cumberland Street in Toronto on the following dates:


- Monday May 3rd - 6:30 pm
- Wednesday May 5th - 1:00 pm
- Sunday May 9th - 9:15 pm

Antonio Tenório da Silva is an outstanding B1 judo athlete who competes in the 100kg weight category. He defeated Karim Sardarov from Azerbaijan to take the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games.

He also won gold in the 86kg category in 1996 and the 90kg category at the 2000 games in Sydney and bronze at the 2007 IBSA World Championships and Games in Brazil.
