Pyramid concerning type of judo players
If we wanted to show the three categories which group the people that attend judo dojos, we could use a pyramid divided into three levels as follows:
The base = built by the great majority of those who practise:
Able bodied/sighted people.
In between = weak athletes:
Children.
Non-competitors.
Last stage = down athletes
Top = Visually impaired athletes
PYRAMID CONCERNING THE NEEDS
Another pyramid can now be added which is similar to the first one, but turned upside down and instead of having the athletes there are their needs. The latter will be called the "Pyramid of the needs".
The two pyramids show what follows:
There are few blind judokas, but their needs are bigger;
Sighted judokas represent the majority, but have less needs;
Each group belongs to his own state, but at the same time to the pyramid, therefore the satisfaction of a need has to interest also the other groups of judokas;
Each solution has to be oriented towards the satisfaction of the needs of the group with more disadventages, i.e. the blind judokas;
The satisfaction of the needs has to start from the base of the "Pyramid concerning the type of judo players" (sighted judokas) producing positive effects on all judo players;
The satisfaction of the needs has to be developped gradually, as a progession of autonomous phases within the teaching program.
